INTRODUCTION

Welcome to this blog Buying Guide where I will help you understand what watch you are looking for and how to select the right choice, avoiding buying a watch that you may not be satisfied with.

I will give you some notions that (probably you may not have taken these selection criteria into consideration) perhaps you do not know about the categories of watches. Each watch with its style and its robustness varies its use and intensifies its daily use.

Now I will explain to you how a watch is made and what physical components it could have based on its functions. To begin with, I would like to talk to you about the correct terminology of the components of a watch, I believe they are very important. I have heard phrases from friends or customers like this: “I would like the watch screen” or “I would have it in silver” are terms very far from watchmaking. These are phrases that for enthusiasts could cause physical discomfort! Jokes aside, they are not difficult to remember and more importantly, there are not many of them!

They are as follows:

  • Analog / Digital Dial
  • Spheres / hands (better spheres)
  • Glass
  • Crown
  • Ring nut
  • Earnings
  • Case back
  • Bracelet in x material
  • Leather / fabric / rubber or caoutchouc strap
  • Folding clasp
  • Barb closure
  • Mesh (bracelet components or bracelet type)

The glass categories are as follows:

  1. Plexiglas glass (low resistance)
  2. Mineral glass (medium-low resistance)
  3. Sapphire crystal (High)

I didn't want to list them but there may also be components such as external buttons for chronograph models or internal buttons for various perpetual calendars.

Now you know the names of the parts of a watch! So try to take everything into consideration when you make your choice.
